§1071.253 and §1071.254: Various educational pathways accepted, including: Bachelor's degree in land surveying from accredited program; Associate's degree in land surveying; Bachelor's degree in related field with specific surveying coursework; Combination of education meeting Board-approved course checklist requirements. Same educational categories as SIT certificate requirements under §1071.253.

§1071.254: Specific experience requirements demonstrating Delegated Responsible Charge Time: (a) In the field: applicant must have had the direction of work, the successful accomplishment of which rested upon the applicant, where decision questions involve the method of execution without relying upon advice or instructions from supervisors. (b) In the office: applicant must have had to undertake tasks demanding resourcefulness, originality, initiative, professional skill, and ability to select alternatives. Work must include: Computations and drafting using rough sketches, general information, and field measurements for reference; Progressive responsibility over time; Supervision by Registered Professional Land Surveyor.

§1071.253 and §1071.256: Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) Examination - Offered by NCEES. Computer-based, available year-round. No limit to number of attempts. Completion required for SIT certificate.

§1071.256: Principles and Practice of Surveying (PS) Examination or RPLS State-Specific Examination - Testing competency in land surveying practice. Must demonstrate knowledge of Texas surveying law and practice. Texas state-specific examination covering Texas surveying law and practice.

§1071.254 and Application Requirements: Three (3) references from Licensed or Registered Professional Land Surveyors. References must have personal knowledge of applicant's delegated responsible charge time or surveying experience. Reference waivers must be completed. Additional references may be submitted.
