At least four years of progressive engineering experience gained after a four-year engineering program or equivalent. Experience may start immediately following graduation. Experience must indicate that the applicant's work has been of increasing quality and has required greater responsibility. Only work of an engineering nature that follows graduation from a professional engineering program may be used. Graduate study credit available: 1 year for master's degree (3 years work + master's = 4 years total), 2 years for doctoral degree (2 years work + doctorate = 4 years total). A candidate may not satisfy the requirement until at least 48 months have elapsed after completion of their first engineering degree, irrespective of the combination of work experience and education credit. Due to LB755 (2020), Board reviews experience when applying for licensure, not when applying for PE exam.
